Aug 21, 2014 - Elaine Fowler to Speak at SCWLA Conference

The 2014 S. C. Women Lawyers Association Conference will be held from October 9 - 11th at the Wild Dunes Resort on the Isle of Palms.  SCWLA is celebrating its 20th anniversary at this year's conference. During the conference a panel of former women presidents of the South Carolina Bar, including our own Elaine Fowler who was the first female president, will discuss "Common Threads of Sucess, Past & Future."

May 22, 2014 - Campbell Quoted in ABA Litigation News

C. Pierce Campbell, shareholder in our Florence office, was recently interviewed for an article in the May 2014 ABA Litigation News entitled, “Discovery Abuse Warrants Informing Jury of Misconduct.”  In First Mariner Bank v. The Resolution Law Group, a Maryland federal court found that a defendant law firm’s repeated discovery abuses warranted an order of monetary sanctions.  The decision may signal that courts are more willing to employ sanctions for such abuses, including disclosing misconduct to jurors.


May 21, 2014 - Shawn Willis Graduates from S. C. Bar Leadership Academy

May 05, 2014 - Shuler named Distinguished Lawyer of 2014

The S.C. Bar Employment and Labor Law Section Council announces that Franklin “Frank” G. Shuler Jr. has been named the Distinguished Lawyer of 2014. Apr 15, 2014 - Forestbrook Middle School Trial Team Takes Top Honors

In December 2013 after winning the regional competition, Forestbrook Middle School Mock Trial Team,  coached by Audra McCall Byrd, won the state championship.  More recently, the Forestbrook Team won the inaugural  “Battle of the Carolinas” where they defeated seven other teams from North and South Carolina.

Feb 20, 2014 - Pierce Campbell Quoted in ABA Litigation News Article

Pierce Campbell, shareholder in our Florence office, was quoted extensively in the February 2014 ABA Litigation News article, "Employees Can Be Liable for Data Theft Regardless of Use."  The article focused on an employee who filed suit for termination and discrimination and the employer counterclaimed that she had violated Virginia’s Uniform Trade Secrets Act.
